How Good is that

This week people I know have quietly and without any fuss donated money towards a cats operation (money/ill), as well as cat litter and food (help/food), donated a consignment of coats to a rescue which took in at short notice a large number of grey…

In this part of Worcestershire it has been a cold, damp and miserable week, but look close enough and spring is on the way. Along the lanes where we live there are lovely drifts of snowdrops, the daffodils are pushing up and I can see green shoots in the hedgerows.

For me spring officially starts on the 1st of March ~ The Meteorological start of spring, rather than the astronomical spring which begins on the 20th March. For me spring can't come soon enough.

Over the next few weeks I need to get a move on with making items to sell at the events we go to over the summer months to raise funds for Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue. These events are not just about making money, more importantly they are about showcasing the dogs that are looking for homes, sharing the excellent work that EGLR is involved in, giving people the chance to see for themselves how gentle and unique lurchers are, and dispelling some of the myths that surround them. I have to say though, they are also a great place to catch up with old friends as well as the opportunity to make new and the camaraderie is fantastic.

In my diary so far I have -

The Royal 3 Counties Show

The Dogs Trust (Evesham) Fun day

The Rodborough Summer Sizzle

Vintage and Country Extravaganza South Cerney

I am looking forward to each and everyone of them.

As my previous ramblings may have already suggested, I have a pet hate and that's the news, I find it very bleak and depressing focusing on the negative aspect of life and very rarely sharing with us a "good news story". If I lived in a bubble being fed nothing but the news, I would really believe that I lived in a country of dreadful, selfish people who only look after themselves and that is so wrong .......... on the whole people are very charitable.........

Charitable ~ 'giving money, food, or help free to those who are in need because they are ill, poor, or have no home'*

This week people I know have quietly and without any fuss donated money towards a cats operation (money/ill), as well as cat litter and food (help/food), donated a consignment of coats to a rescue which took in at short notice a large number of greyhounds at risk (no home/help), and baked cakes ( not tasted - unfortunately) to raise funds for cancer research (help).

Dog coats

Just think this is happening day in day out all over the country ~ now that is a good news story

Finally 2 years ago this week the wonderful Miss Maggie May left us and went over rainbow bridge, however in my own words "this is not a time for sorrow, it is a time for happy memories to emerge from dormancy, for the fear of causing pain has passed"
