Well this is it my first venture into the world of websites and blogs am I cut out for it who knows but what I do know is that you are never too old to try something new and this is my something new for 2017.
I am no expert in older dogs ~ I have had dogs they have lived into their teens and I have cared for and looked after them to the best of my ability, seeking advice when it has been required. It would be fabulous to be able to develop this site to include evidence based information on caring for your older dog in the future.
My aim for now however is for me to get used to having a website which publicises the fact that I had a special girl called Miss Maggie May who made a huge impression on me. Maggie brought me into contact with so many like minded wonderful people that I now call friends. The Duchess as she was known has touched the hearts of so many people that when she made her way over rainbow bridge a small trust fund was set up in her memory.
As I start 2017 I feel that I now have a duty to step this up a gear to ensure that Miss Maggie's memory and all she stands for continues to live on and her fund is maintained to help other OAL's (Old Age Lurchers) that come into the care of Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue. I will not get my begging bowl out, if people want to donate they will and they already do, I just want to raise the profile of older dogs that end up in rescue just as Miss Maggie did and to provide the extras that they sometimes need whilst in rescue.
To start my first blog I thought it only right that Mr Duskey ( that's my boy lying in the grass after a good run on the Long Mynd in Shropshire) is brought into the picture he was my first introduction to Lurchers and could well have been my last but more about that another day
