What this world needs is a new kind of army — the army of the kind. ~ Cleveland Amory

It’s funny how things work out, over Christmas I suddenly thought about Miss Maggie's supper box fund and the need to pick it back up and carry on with the work that I had started following her passing.

One of the main instigators was the extremely thoughtful and helpful Gary Dyer, genuinely interested in the Miss Maggie story and with a real love and understanding of how special lurchers can be ( we have the wonderful Peggy to thank for that). Gary gave me the confidence to build the Miss Maggie Web/Facebook page and the rest is history.

On the 28th December following my first face book post a very generous lady by the name of Angela Hossack sent me a message to say:

"Hi. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I saw your post about wanting to boost Miss Maggie's fund for senior dogs and I have a plan to do a book of verse all related to adopted rescue dogs and I will dedicate it to Miss Maggie and donate profits to the fund. I have made a start on it and will keep you updated."

Now Angela is not one to break her promise and her book of poems are now in print. Today I received a gift from Angela, yes it is her book of poems the front of which states very clearly "Miss Maggie's Supper Box" A selection of Doggie Poems written by Angela and illustrated by her very talented brother Jamie MacDougall.

The first page says " All proceeds from this book will be donated to the Miss Maggie Supper box fund" and the second page, which I admit did bring a tear to my eye is a dedication to Miss Maggie. Thanks to Angela Miss Maggie has a book of poems dedicated to her, raising much needed funds for those that find themselves like her needing to be rescued.

The original drawing on the front of the book was donated by Jamie last year to raise funds for EGLR, which it certainly did and coincidentally it was won in the Christmas auction by Gary ~ I would call that more than a coincidence.

Thank you so much Angela, Jamie and to friends who have already purchased this book, I know some have already been posted out and others will be on their way very soon. The generosity of you all has already seen £140.00 come through to Miss Maggie's Supper Box Fund and this amount will certainly go a good way towards helping older lurchers in need.

The Book is available to order from Angela it costs 10.00 plus 2.00 Postage and packing, Its a lovely book and with all the proceeds coming to the Miss Maggie's fund it makes it very special indeed.

If you would like to purchase one then please send me a message and I will pass your details onto Angela. Angela and Jamie's generosity does not stop there, the original illustrations in the book have been donated by Jamie and will be available to bid on in the 2017 EGLR Grand Christmas Auction ~ so even more money will be raised from this act of kindness.

Finally if you know of any older lurchers in rescue/foster homes over the age of 8 in need of additional funds or items of comfort then please do not hesitate to let me know ~ the fund has been set up to help these wonderful older dogs, it's no good to anyone sitting in the fund.
