Tom has an ulcer on his eye, the specialist at the AHT is confident that they can make it better.
Tom has Pannus. This is an immune-mediated condition that affects the cornea. It is not curable, but it is manageable with careful and consistent treatment with corticosteroids. If Tom is not treated he will gradually lose his sight.
Tom is having to go to the vets twice per week - for how long will depend on how the ulcer heals. Greys 11+ say that "Tom has such a gentle and accepting nature - that he has to go through this is so unfortunate, but it would be so much harder with a dog that reacted badly to all the handling and interference with his eye".
